How to Make Fool-Proof Brown Rice

- 2 cups brown rice
- 3 cups cold water
- a pinch pink salt optional
Measure out 2 cups of dry, uncooked brown rice.
Using a mesh strainer, rinse rice under cool water for at least 30 seconds. This rinses some of the starch away and will prevent the rice from become when cooked.
Transfer rice to the rice cooker. (Do not over-fill. Abide by your rice cooker's instructions in regard to limitations.) Add water and salt to the rice.
Cover with top and turn rice cooker on. Sit back and relax. Your rice cooker will do all the work from here. When rice cooker shuts off. Let rice rest for an additional 10-15 min. Resist the urge to dive in right away. The flavor and texture is well worth it!
Fluff rice with a wooden spoon or rubber spatula then serve alongside your favorite dish.
