Pine pollen is a particularly beneficial supplement for vegan and vegetarians as it not only contains vitamin D3, it’s also approximately 30% protein! Add it to tea, smoothies, and desserts.
Pine Pollen is the newest addition to the smoothie section of my pantry. It’s got an interesting taste–very reminiscent of bee pollen. I’ve been adding to to at least two of my smoothies per week. My latest smoothie, the Matcha-Cado, actually features pine pollen. It’s sooooo good. You NEED to try it–it’s by far one of my favorite smoothies to make in the morning.
Let’s get into why I’m giving pine pollen the spotlight it deserves. Here are some facts about the superfood:
-Pine pollen is rich in vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, B9, and fat soluble vitamins A, E, D, D2, D3, polysaccarides, nucleic acids, MSM, antioxidants, and live enzymes
-Produced by pine trees and NOT bees
-It’s a tasty addition to the Matcha-Cado (yes I needed to mention this again)
-Has brain boosting and immune stimulating properties
-Is a natural source of phenylalanine, which is associated with the production and use of various neurotransmitters in the brain. Phenylalanine stimulates dopamine levels in the brain and is a L-dopa precursor. Potentially higher levels of L-dopa and the presence of Pine Pollen’s phyto-androgens can have a direct impact on a women’s mood and can even help boost a women’s libido.
-The natural hormones in pine pollen help to boost testosterone levels in men and can also help to restore balance to a woman’s body.
-It can also be used externally to successfully treat skin conditions of all kinds! Make it into a simple cream, and apply directly to the skin when battling eczema, acne, impetigo, and diaper rash. Arginine is pine pollen’s secret weapon in improving skin challenges.
