Listen here…Don’t ever let anyone shame you about using store bought Spaghetti Sauce. Sure you can whip up the homemade spaghetti sauce recipe from here on the blog, BUT, every now and then…”Ain’t nobody got time fah dat!” I always keep at least 1 jar in my cupboard for times like this.
If you go the store bought route, just get the basic marinara that has a minimal amount of ingredients and “doctor it up” like I did:
I warmed chili oil and sautéed minced garlic, fennel seed, a little pink salt, and onion powder. Add meatballs to the pot (I used Gardein frozen meatballs) and roll them around in the spices. Cook for a few minutes. Stir in some meat crumbles (I used Morning star). Add your jar of sauce, a generous amount of nutritional yeast and vegan cheese shreds, a pinch of nutmeg, and fresh parsley. Let simmer for 5-10 minutes until all cheese is melted and meatballs are cooked through. Serve over your cooked pasta of choice (I used gluten-free spaghetti). Garnish with more fresh parsley.
