Date Paste is a great alternative sweetener to raw honey, agave nectar, and maple syrup. It’s a healthy, economical, and extremely easy to make!
First of all, what is date paste?
Date Paste is literally pureed dates that have been soaked and softened in water. Sure, you can save time by buying it pre-made, but it tastes so much better making it fresh at home.
Health Benefits of Dates
Dates are so so so good for you as they contain lots of vitamins and minerals such as calcium, iron, and magnesium, and are great for constipation and weight loss.
What foods can I use Date Paste in?
Any liquid sweetener (honey, maple syrup, agave nectar) in most recipes can be replaced with date paste. Feel free to use date paste in pretty much everything including: Smoothies, pancakes, porridge/oatmeal, savory dishes, puddings, hot drinks such as teas, hot chocolate, coffee, salad dressings, baked/stewed fruit, etc.
Note: Because date paste is watered down with water, it may not taste as sweet as other sweeteners, so, you may want to add more if you want your recipes a bit sweeter.
